Project
I work collaboratively with the Initiative’s directors to create a visual identity within North Carolina State University’s system that translates across a number of deliverables: reports, slide decks, galleries, etc.
The Initiative
The Initiative educates students and professionals in the art, science, and application of building resilient communities, placemaking and sustainable land use. They accomplish this through practicum-based academics, sponsored research, and real-world application.
Design Problem (Fall 2022- Ongoing): Packaging the Initiative’s deliverables into a cohesive, recognizable brand.
The Initiative’s directors and I collaboratively designed an identity to better socialize the work that they do and create a flexible framework for the deliverables they produce.
Deliverables:
︎︎︎ Branding & Visual System
︎︎︎Small scale exhibition design
︎︎︎ Booklet Report Template
︎︎︎Single Page Narrative Report Tempalte
︎︎︎Flyer Tempaltes
︎︎︎ Website Design and Implementation
Community Catalysts
Informative, smart, and catalytic are some of the grounding adjectives that guided the identity. The images shown on the left are used as illustration and ornament throughout the brand’s deliverables. The halftone treatment suggests that there is is a beautiful image that emerges from the a community of many small dots. The Initiative strives to bring together many communities to make large effective impact.

Reports
I work with multidisciplinary teams of students and professors strategizing opportunities to publish their work with visual sophistication and memorable storytelling. This typically looks like a printed graphic report.

Small Exhibition (Summer 2023)
In the Summer of 2023, the Initiative was provided some space within the College of Design to share its research and community engagement. I designed the exhibit and the signage that framed the exhibition’s content.
Website
I designed the Initiative’s website in Wordpress after a period of sketching and iterating in Figma.
